2000 years of history
at the Saint Maurice Abbey

This is one of the top religious and architextural sites in Valais. Solemnly inaugurated on 25 September 515 by St. Avitus, bishop of Vienne on the Rhône, the Abbey of Saint-Maurice is witness to a much older religious presence. It owes its origin to the sanctuary built on the tomb of St. Maurice and his martyr companions.

An exceptional vineyard

The vineyard is one of the several natural riches of Valais. Generally consumed locally, its wine reveals some hidden treasures.
Due to abundant sunshine, Valais has a dry climate that is especially partial to viticulture. The Valais region has the largest wine growing area in Switzerland.
A must see!
